Modernized PUR production at the C.F. Maier plant in Turkey

PUR has been used in industrial production since 1940 and offers numerous advantages. Thanks to its high versatility and resistance, the plastic is used in many different areas. C.F. Maier-TEC has been using polyurethane for many years - including at its plant in Çorlu, which was founded in 1996. The demand for products made from this material is growing steadily.

“I consider polyurethane to be one of the most intelligent plastics. With the processes and materials we offer, we can master all challenges in the interior of trucks, buses, construction machinery and special vehicles and manufacture products with a high-quality feel,” explains Ingo Minnemann, Head of Industrial Moulded Parts Sales at C.F. Maier Europlast. “Compared to deep-drawn parts, PUR offers numerous advantages, such as significantly better sound insulation and an outstanding surface appearance and design variety.”

Retrofit of existing technology for major orders from MAN and CNH Industrial

In order to meet the requirements of the growing PUR market and increase production capacities, C.F. Maier-TEC has comprehensively modernized the PUR production at its plant in Turkey. In addition to the purchase of a new mold carrier, two existing PUR systems were also brought up to the latest state of the art. These systems are capable of processing the materials Baydur 60 and Baydur 110. Customers benefiting from these systems include MAN, MBT and CNH Industrial.

Flexlocation concept: German expertise meets Turkish efficiency

C.F. Maier-TEC relies on the so-called flexlocation concept. This means that the same production process can be used not just in one plant, but at several locations in different countries. These locations all have the necessary equipment and expertise to handle projects.

The flexlocation concept therefore makes it possible to flexibly relocate projects to another plant, another country or even another continent if required. Reasons for this can be economic considerations, but also social and political circumstances, natural disasters or other external influences.

For customers, this concept offers not only economic benefits but also security in their own supply chain.

The project with CNH Industrial was originally developed at the Group's headquarters in Königsbronn and at the nearby plant in Schillingsfürst, Franconia, before production of the complex components was relocated to Çorlu in Turkey. For CNH as the world's leading manufacturer of agricultural and construction machinery, this approach offers decisive advantages: German engineering expertise, quick decisions and short distances during the development phase - combined with German-speaking contact partners.

After the relocation, customers then benefit from cost-efficient production in Turkey. The plant in Çorlu combines highly qualified production with efficient logistics that ensure seamless processes. This strategy not only offers economic advantages, but also promotes the exchange of knowledge between the sites and creates high-quality jobs in Turkey. This makes the plant in Çorlu a central hub in C.F. Maier-TEC's global value chain.

C.F. Maier-TEC as a complete system supplier

“The market for PUR is growing strongly, and we see great potential both throughout Europe and in Turkey,” says Ingo Minnemann. Both agricultural customers and customers from the commercial and special vehicle industry at home and abroad benefit from the modern production facilities at the plant in Turkey.

The facilities are state of the art and fully connected to a central SAP system. Thanks to regular inspections and the preventive replacement of wearing parts, an optimal production environment with minimal downtime is guaranteed.

Just-in-time and just-in-sequence production are possible without any problems, and established delivery logistics including all customs procedures to Germany are in place. “We are not just a supplier of moulded parts, but a system provider,” emphasizes Minnemann.

The aim for the future is to achieve even more sustainable, CO₂-neutral production in Çorlu. In collaboration with research institutes and universities, C.F. Maier-TEC is currently working on making PUR components sustainable and ideally 100% recyclable.
